Have you ever seen these buttons on your car? The SOS key, called “eCall”, is an emergency call device connected to an accident detector. So how does it work?

What happens when you press the SOS button?

When you press the “SOS button” in your car, your on-board computer will activate the semi-automatic SOS service. A few seconds after pressing the SOS button, your vehicle will automatically call 911 or other emergency numbers wherever you are.

The SOS device, also called “eCall”, which is mandatory in all new vehicles as of April 1, 2018, is a button located either higher on the front panel or on the roof, next to the side light switches. This device is a real built-in emergency call system!
