Dutch students built an electric motorcycle with better features than any Suzuki Hayabusa. The Twente Delta-XE has 202 horsepower, but weighs only 220 kilograms and can exceed 300 km / h very easily.
Powerful engine and low weight
Delta XE’s electric motor comes from AE Group. AE Group has been supplying products to the automotive industry since 1980. The engine is placed in the middle of the vehicle. According to the project team from the University of Twente, it produces 202 horsepower and provides a maximum torque of 170 Nm. The motorcycle weighs 220 kilograms and provides a maximum speed of more than 300 km/h.
170 Nm of torque corresponds to 800 Nm of traction at the rear wheel. The motorcycle accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in less than three seconds.
The energy comes from the battery the students developed
The student team developed the Delta-XE’s battery by themselves. It consists of a total of 576 lithium polymer cells and has a capacity of 13.5 kilowatt-hours. These fuel cells provide a total of 800 volts of power.
